The ability to archive players in teams
This will allow players in the team from previous seasons to be archived so their stats are retained. So in a cricket/soccer match the list of players to select from isn’t too long.
Also for individual player registration costs, the archived players won’t get the fee, but can easily be brought back into the team without having to register again.

If a selection can be made in the team list under the player role to change those no longer playing as "past players" this would help team organisers.
It would also be great for admins if when reports are being genrated you can select to get all players on a team or exclude particular roles such as a new "past player" identification.
